As a therapist, I help people gain insight into their deeper emotions and thoughts and empower them to create positive change.

If you’re coping with difficult emotions or working through past traumas that are holding you back, I want to help you change those thought patterns to create a happier life.

My Story

Welcome!

Being human comes with baggage – or spice (depending on your outlook).

As a woman in my 30s, I have faced my own life stressors (both the planned and the unexpected – hello, anxiety my old friend). Through those experiences, I know how important it is to have someone in your corner!  As you go through your own personal change…

Why I became a therapist…

I have a great passion for understanding myself and others. I began my work in mental health as a recreation therapist, after graduating with my BA from UNCW. At UNC’s Neuroscience Hospital (and other hospitals), I learned how much people benefit from group therapy, as well as other healthier coping techniques in inpatient behavioral work.

In my desire to expand my professional therapy range, I took a job at a prison outside of San Francisco.

Here, I had the opportunity to work with death row inmates. This was a major lesson in acknowledging an individual’s complexities, life circumstances, and inherent resiliency – Not to mention, a crash course in enhancing my own boundary-setting!

Wanting to make even more of a difference and expand my knowledge, I pursued my Masters in social work with a clinical focus at UCF. I gained training and experience in suicide prevention, grief counseling, and hospice social work.

As a private practice therapist, I am happy to be able to bring these skills and treatment tools to our sessions together.

During my 8+ years as a mental health professional, I have worked with adolescents and adults of all ages with many different issues. I currently specialize in working with individuals in their 20s, 30s, & 40s but do provide EMDR and trauma work with adults of all ages.
