Are you struggling with the lingering effects of trauma or distressing life events?
If you’re tired of feeling stuck and ready to reclaim your emotional well-being, you’re in the right place…

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy:
An effective evidence-based approach to promote emotional healing

Your mind as a garden and your distressing experiences are like weeds. These weeds can make it difficult for the healthy plants in your garden to thrive.

With EMDR therapy, we can focus on clearing out the weeds to encourage the healthy plants and flowers to bloom. Bilateral stimulation (BLS) functions as a watering can, nurturing the plants and loosening the soil around the weeds. This makes them easier to remove, helping you process and heal from those experiences

What is EMDR?

EMDR is one of the fastest-acting trauma therapies available. It can help people heal from trauma in a fraction of the time it takes with traditional talk therapy.

EMDR is based on the idea that traumatic experiences can become “stuck” in the brain, leading to ongoing distress and dysfunction in daily life. EMDR helps the brain process these traumatic memories in a healthier and more adaptive way.

During an EMDR session, you will focus on a specific distressing memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation (BLS). BLS is a technique that involves stimulating the brain on both sides of the body, through eye movements, tones, or tapping.

As you engage in BLS, you will continue to focus on the memory. This process can help to reduce the emotional charge of the memory and make it less distressing.

EMDR can be a very effective way to heal from trauma. It is a safe and gentle therapy that can help people find relief from their symptoms quickly.

EMDR is effective for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and panic disorders
  • Relationship & attachment issues
  • Work stressors
  • Sexual assault
  • Natural disasters
  • Domestic violence
  • Accidents
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Childhood trauma and abuse
  • Grief and loss, including traumatic grief
  • Performance anxiety
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Phobias and fears

While EMDR is helpful for many people, it may not be right for everyone.
